Prof. Kirti Srivastava,

Organizing President

The University Environment Department is organising 24th Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Hospital Waste Management “ISHWMCON-2024” with the theme ‘Managing Healthcare Waste for a Sustainable Future’. It is my great pleasure to welcome you to this pivotal conference on Biomedical Waste Management and the Environment. We all are united by a shared commitment to addressing one of the most pressing challenges of our time: the responsible management of biomedical waste and its impact on our environment. Biomedical waste, while a critical by product of healthcare and research, poses significant environmental and public health risks if not managed properly. Our goal during this conference is to deepen our understanding of these challenges and to explore innovative solutions that can enhance our waste management practices, protect our ecosystems, and safeguard public health. We intend to have a gathering of a diverse group of experts, practitioners, and stakeholders who will share their insights, research findings, and practical experience. Your contribution will be vital as we seek to advance best practices, regulatory frameworks, and technological innovations in this field. As we embark on this journey together, let us remember that effective biomedical waste management is not just a regulatory requirement but a fundamental component of our collective responsibility to create a sustainable and healthy environment for future generations. Bio-medical waste management unit of University Environment Department, KGMU has formulated the unique system to improve the on-site segregation practices of BMW with the endless efforts of the entire team including all staff, residents & faculty members. A pre – conference workshop will be held with hands-on sessions. The workshop will serve as a boon to participants and will provide excellent opportunity to have adequate knowledge and inculcate appropriate skills about BMWM. I extend my best wishes to all the participants and welcome you to this conference.

Thank You,
