Recent technological advances in providing healthcare have made the waste management multifarious. Safety of the patients, healthcare providers, waste handlers and the immediate environs of the healthcare providing centers is paramount. This requires a broad landscape ranging from the choice of tools used for providing healthcare right till their safe and apt disposal. So, tactical planning, and out of the box solutions for straight forward and easy to implement maneuvers for managing the healthcare waste are needed.
ISHWMCON-2024 will be stage to appraise the road travelled thus far in this context, identify the roadblocks ahead and formulate a plan to surmount them. The conference shall provide an excellent opportunity interaction among the vast panorama of academicians, policy makers, medical practitioners, student and other to achieve this aim.

Indian Society of Hospital Waste Management is a registered body of professionals to address the issues and concerns of hospital waste at the national level, and to facilitate/advocate/undertake research activities on issues of hospital waste management and eco-friendly disposal.
The Government of India has published a Gazette notification on 20 Jul 1998 making all persons who generate, collect, receive, store, transport, treat, dispose or handle medical waste in any form responsible for handling the medical waste without any adverse effect to human health and the environment.
In consideration of the above facts Indian Society of Hospital Waste Management (ISHWM) was formed on the 10 Apr 2000, and registered under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 with Registration Number 36939.
